Treatment for viral tonsillitis focuses on rest, fluids, and pain management through hydration and rest. Antibiotics check here become necessary if the infection is bacterial, though this is rare.

In recurring tonsillitis cases, tonsil removal might be recommended if there are multiple severe episodes. Preventative measures include avoiding contact with others during symptoms.
